How often does the RPO tour the U.S.?
The RPO tours the U.S. every two years. Ensembles often visit in the off years.
What is the RPO famous for?
The RPO is famous for producing world class music ranging from the classical repertoire to imaginative partnerships with musicians from other genres. The RPO is also renowned for delivering cutting edge music outreach programs to underserved audiences.
Is the RPO supported by the U.K. government or the Royal family?
The RPO receives a small percentage of its budget from the British government. It is not supported by the Royal family. The budget is supported by charitable contributions and ticket sales.
What does the AFRPO do?
The AFRPO supports the U.S. tour and associated music education programs of the RPO. The AFRPO also provides links for the RPO to American music, educational and community organizations.
Is the AFRPO a 501c3 charity in the U.S.? Are donations to the AFRPO tax deductible to the full extent of the law?
The AFRPO is registered with the IRS as a 501c3 charitable organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
How are funds raised by the AFRPO used?
The AFRPO has supported concerts across the U.S. and innovative programs such as musicians working with stroke victims; outreach to schools and music demonstrations in museums and community organizations.
What are some examples of exciting work by the RPO in the U.S.?
The RPO performs a wide range of classical, led by conductor Vasily Petrenko and superb guest soloists. Last year, the RPO was in residence in Orlando for a week. Concerts featured performances with Jennifer Hudson, The Royal Ballet, Lyle Lovett, Audra McDonald and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. In Orlando, musicians demonstrated the RPO program for stroke patients and offered free access to rehearsals for high school students.
Does the AFRPO host special events?
Spectacular events are hosted in the U.S. and the U.K. The 2022 Gala was in the U.K was held at Windsor Castle. Prior events have been held at Buckingham Palace and other prominent venues. In the U.S., events at Carnegie Hall and private homes have enabled guests to have informal time with the conductor and musicians.

Become a local booster for the RPO! Contact the AFRPO Board and work with us to schedule a concert in your home town.
